Koala

The koala is a mammal and is part of a special group called marsupials. Marsupials breathe with lungs, are warm blooded and have live babies. They also have fur or hair somewhere on their bodies.

Koalas are small, furry, tree dwelling animals. a koala may look like a bear but it is not one. It is similar to a possum, however it has a shorter tail and sharp claws which are used for climbing trees. Koalas feet are small compared to kangaroos feet which are big. koalas are herbivores which means they eat plants. They suck the moisture from the leaves of eucalyptus tress. Koalas eat mainly at night because then there is more moisture in the leaves than in daytime.

Koalas live in bushland areas of eastern Australia. they can live in hot, warm or cold places. Koalas live in high branches of eucalyptus trees because there are more leaves there.
